Energy Efficiency Programs

Loup Power District in partnership with NPPD (Nebraska Public Power District) and its other wholesale utility customers have launched the EnergyWise (energy efficiency) programs for homeowners, businesses, and agriculture.
All our programs will be branded with the EnergyWise (Use less, Spend less, Do more) logo.  When you see this logo rest assured it represents programs and opportunities for you to save energy, money, and help the environment.
Funding is limited.  Contact Loup Power District to ensure incentives are still available.
Incentives are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Commercial, Industrial, and Area Lighting Program
Businesses have the opportunity to earn cash incentives for upgrading to qualified more efficient lighting.  Incentives are available for both indoor as well as outdoor lighting.

    High Efficiency Heat Pump Program
Residents that install a new qualified heat pump (14 SEER or higher and 8.2 HSPF or higher) will be eligible for a rebate of $200 or more depending on the SEER of
    the unit.
The homeowner can choose the incentive OR the low 2.5% interest loan (but, not both)
The installing HVAC dealer can also receive an incentive payment for installations that operate within 10% of manufacturer's specifications.

    Cooling System Tune-Up Program
A homeowner incentive of $30 is available to those who have their cooling system (heat pump or air conditioner) tuned up.
Eligible systems include air conditioner, air source (regardless of backup) and water source heat pumps.
Typically tune-ups on cooling systems that have been neglected for a few years can provide5-15% energy savings, or more.  Not to mention the unit can better perform from a comfort and equipment longevity stand point.
Annual maintenance of your system is a good idea, however, customers are only eligible for the $30 EnergyWise incentive a minimum of every three years.

ENERGY STAR (R) Window Air Conditioner Program
An incentive of $30 is available to those who purchase a new ENERGY STAR qualified window air conditioner.
Any customer is eligible -- residential, multi-family, apartments, commercial, industrial, agriculture.  Application includes a copy of the receipt and the homeowner's / owner's signature.
This incentive pays a majority of the cost of upgrading from a standard model to an ENERGY STAR model.

    Attic Insulation Program
Attics are places where it can really pay to have the right amount of insulation.  To help make insulating more affordable, customers participating in the residential EnergyWise attic insulation program are eligible for an incentive of 15 cents per square foot with a maximum incentive amount of $300 per existing residential dwelling.  Existing duplexes and apartment complexes that are individually-metered also qualify.  However, new construction and additions do not.

    Commercial HVAC
Incentives are available for installation of high efficient heat pump and air conditioning equipment in nonresidential buildings including master-metered multi-family buildings.

    HVAC System Optimization
A building's heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system (HVAC) could be costing the owner big dollars due to inefficient operation.  In fact, HVAC systems can account for about half of the energy used in a building.  By optimizing the building's HVAC system, one can save 10 -20% or more of the building's energy costs!
The optimization process consists of systematically investigating the operation of the HVAC system, and implementing improvements specifically designed to reduce energy usage while maintaining or improving occupant comfort.  Oftentimes these improvements have very quick paybacks!
